That you are a graduate of Business Administration or any related business course is not enough qualifiers to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

That you have an MBA certificate also does not automatically qualify you to become a successful entrepreneur.

That you can manage people does not make you a successful business person.

That you have acquired some specific skills like liquid soap making, disinfectants production, cakes baking, cars fixing, or any other related skill does not guarantee success in entrepreneurship.

Noteworthy is the fact that some enterprises have crashed because the operator did not know enough about the job. That you have the tools does not mean that you know the job. Every tool goes with training. …You must be trained to reign in life (Abioye; 2009:10)

Basically, you need three (3) skills in you to make it as an entrepreneur:

  1. Technical skill: Ability to do something creatively.
  2. Managerial skill: Ability to manage people to produce your expected results.
  3. Entrepreneurial skill: Ability to think creatively, locate divine vision and delegate efficiently and effectively, without abdication (Losing your business in the process of delegating responsibilities)

The ultimate is to operate your business in consonance with Scriptural (Biblical) principles; for the Scriptures offer supernatural keys to a business breakthroughs that can unlock every door you need opened and keep you from failure.

When you capture these principles, you put some powerful forces into motion which supernaturally guide you on the road to your business breakthrough.

Today, in this thought-provoking and insightful blog post, you will be learning virtually everything you need to know about starting/branding your own business and how you can use biblical Principles to supernaturally transform your business.

For those who wish to start and brand their own businesses, this blog post will serve as a road map to your business success.

Enjoy the trip!

WHY ANALOG HUMANS CANNOT SUCCEED SUSTAINABLY IN TODAY’S BUSINESS WORLD

It is no more news that nine out of ten new businesses fail within the first five years. Of the one in ten that survives those first five years, nine out of ten of those ‘survivors’ fail in the second five years. The primary reason why most new entrepreneurs fail, as noted by Robert Kiyosaki (2015:5) in his best-selling book, “8 Lessons In Military Leadership For Entrepreneurs”, is simply because they lack the core training, the core strengths they need to withstand the rigours of being an entrepreneur. Some people call it guts. Others call it perseverance.

Another important reason why most entrepreneurs fail is because our educational system trains people to be employees, not entrepreneurs. The world of an employee is very different from the world of an entrepreneur. One big difference is the concept of paychecks. If an employee does not receive his or her “paycheck” they quit and go looking for a new job. Most entrepreneurs must be tough to operate, sometimes for years, without a “paycheck.”

Erroneously, many pseudo-experts attribute business failures to under-capitalization. That means, they do not have enough money or access to money to keep the business afloat. This fear of being “undercapitalized” is a major reason why many still cling to job security as employees.

However, my financial mentor, Robert Kiyosaki, concluded that it is not a lack of capital; it is a lack of entrepreneurial education, real-world business experience, and guts. If you talk with successful entrepreneurs, they will tell you they are always “under-capitalized.” They never have enough money to meet all the financial obligations required as an entrepreneur, let alone the capital needed to grow their business. Yet, somehow, true entrepreneurs keep going. Then one day, for some entrepreneurs, the money starts pouring in. It may take years.

Money is not the major and most important resource needed for starting and running a sustainable business. Money is a product of a successful exchange of values.

How much did God have when He created the world? Was there any mention of money in Genesis, at the creation of the earth and man? If not, with what kind of resources did God use to create man? Answer: IDEAS!

Someone wrote and I concur with him that anything you see on earth that is established by man was a product of an idea. Ideas transform jungles into modern cities. Ideas turn forests into industrial estates. Ideas elevate valleys and mountains into tourist centres. Ideas turn mud into bricks. Ideas break limits and turn impossibilities into possibilities.

According to the rule of 90/10, it is only 10% of the total population of a nation that generate the ideas that 90% of people live by.

Strategic, Relevant, and Timely knowledge is the major resource needed for starting and successfully running any venture. Throughout all ages, there is no one that God gave an idea coupled with a big bank account and connection in high places. It is the implementation of the idea that attracts the requisite money.

With no college education, frustrated, and discouraged after twenty-five years in the direct selling business, Mary Kay Ash retired from her position as a national training director in 1963 when a less experienced and skilled man was promoted above her at a higher salary.

After one month of retirement, with the help of her past experiences, $5,000 (Five thousand dollars), and her son Richard, she founded “Beauty by Mary Kay”. All she had was little money and plenty of capital sense (Knowledge).

On its 40th anniversary in 2003, Mary Kay Inc. was employing over 1.1 million beauty consultants in over 30 markets and produced a wholesale of nearly 1.7 billion dollars. (Excerpt from an author who quoted: www.pihannahchesser.blogspot.com)

Therefore, the contemporary entrepreneur must have a vision in order to succeed in a digital world filled with analog humans.

Proactive entrepreneurs prepare individually and collectively to attain the best possible results under the worst possible conditions.

Education and training followed by evaluation and more training culminating in execution is a never-ending cycle required for success.

Every General, in the army, was once a protégé of another General. No one is self-made. We are knowledge-made!

Unfortunately, many in today’s world assume entrepreneurial knowledge. That you have a shop or an office somewhere does not make you an entrepreneur. That you have been doing ‘buying and selling’ for donkey years cannot qualify you as an entrepreneur. Experience is not equal to wisdom; though both of them work together. Wisdom transcends the shores of experience. This is because your experience can be negative or positive. But, wisdom is divine. Wisdom is the result.

It is wisdom to adopt a digital approach, instead of the analog approach in turning an idea into a business. The trend is fast changing. Things are no longer as they used to be. You need to understand this fact!

Let me shock you a little from a fascinating story I read from a recent book, “The New Strategic Thinking” by Michel Robert (2006:23). Hear this:

A few years ago, the CEOs of the two dominant book retailers in the United States-Barnes & Noble-were sitting in their respective offices, listening to the business news on CNN’s Moneyline, contemplating ways and means of taking away some of each other’s business. During the newscast, there was a short interview with a gentleman named Jeff Bezos, who declared that he had formed a company named Amazon.com, which, effective immediately, would start selling books online through the Internet. Furthermore, he stated that Amazon.com would carry over one million titles-a hundred times that of the average bookstore, that the price would be 30 to 50 percent less than a bookstore, and that users could make a purchase in a couple of minutes from the comfort of their homes by simply using a PC.

A few weeks later, the CEO of Merrill Lynch, watching the same TV program, was thinking about ways and means to compete with Smith Barney. Another young entrepreneur announced the launch of an online brokerage company called E*TRADE, which would allow individuals to trade stocks from their home PCs at a fraction of the cost of dealing through a broker.

While the CEOs of American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta, and US Airways were brainstorming ways of eating away at one another’s customer base, a new Internet-based company called Priceline.com ran full-page ads in all the major newspapers. They announced the introduction of a new booking service that would provide lower fares than the lowest offered by any airline. Within a few weeks, Priceline.com was booking flights for over 200,000 travelers per week.

Thus, the day the Amazon.com went online, Barnes and Nobles’ and Borders’ business models were put into jeopardy. The day that E*TRADE went online, Merrill Lynch’s business model of selling stocks through thousands of highly commissioned salespeople was put into jeopardy. Priceline.com simply took control of the airlines’ pricing policy.

The entrepreneurial world of today is only for digital humans and not analog humans! If you are not strategic in your thinking, innovative in your concepts, and creative in your approach to running your business, you will soon be overtaken by new and young entrepreneurs who are.

Statistics prove that the business Jeff Bezos started some years ago has made him the richest man on earth, as at the time of the writing of this e-book. What then do we say about Bill Gates of Microsoft, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, or Steve Jobs of Apple Computers?

In an article titled, “4 Mindset Shifts Creative Entrepreneurs Can Learn From Richard Branson” written by Heidi Lynne Kurter on the 12th of September, 2018 on the link: https://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/entrepreneurs/4-mindset-shifts-creative-entrepreneurs-can-learn-from-richard-branson/ar-BBNdWBV, a little was told about the entrepreneurial lifestyle of Richard Branson; hear these:

The high school dropout turned successful serial entrepreneur has undoubtedly left his mark on this world. Richard Branson has proven that anything is possible with the power of a strong mindset. With more than 300 businesses under his belt, Branson teaches creative entrepreneurs to take action with passion without overthinking it.

The phrase “creative entrepreneur” far extends the definition of “starving artist.” With millennials running the ship, entrepreneurship has taken on a whole new life. Their biggest obstacle is getting caught up in the mindset blocks that keep them from taking action and making their dreams a reality.

This Four Mindset Shifts Will Help Creative Entrepreneurs Bridge The Gap Between Their Dreams And Success

1. Surround Yourself With High Achievers

The most successful people understand the importance of surrounding themselves with people they strive to be like. When Branson was struggling to get Virgin Atlantic off the ground, he leaned heavily on his mentor, Sir Freddie Laker, who had been successful at launching his own airline. Branson is famously quoted as saying “surround yourself with people that are smarter than you, give them everything they need to grow, and your business will thrive.”

Having a mentor, coach, or someone you look up to will show creative entrepreneurs what’s possible helping them turn their goals into moving targets. By having the support of a mentor or coach, entrepreneurs are more likely to succeed. Their knowledge, guidance, and impact are invaluable.

2. Cultivate A Larger-Than-Life Appetite

When you stay focused on a dream, opportunities will present themselves. It’s up to you whether or not you take them. Branson didn’t have the background or experience for any of the businesses he started. All he had were his larger than life goals that fueled him to keep going. Branson explained “creating a business with no experience in that field needn’t hold you back, there’s always the opportunity to hire those who know more about an area than you.”

Setting big, seemingly impossible, goals force creative entrepreneurs to work harder, stay hungry, and stretch their potential. Their ability to stay focused will help them to achieve more inspiring more creativity and innovation. Those initial big picture goals will only continue to grow as they continue to achieve each milestone and realize what they’re capable of.

3. Live A Life Of Adventure And Curiosity

Branson didn’t intend on becoming a serial entrepreneur. It happened because of his curiosity and interest to learn more. Branson has always stuck by one core belief — don’t go into business with the primary intention of making money. Do it because you are passionate, curious, and interested in something new. Branson’s driving force behind starting each of his businesses is “he enjoys the challenge of trying to do something better than other people.”

As creative entrepreneurs, it’s easy to seek the money especially since creative fields are known to pay less than technical. Success comes when passion is pursued and achieved. Focus on one thing you’re good at, and do it really well. Make yourself an expert in your field and become the go-to person for that specialty.

4. Choose Messy Action Over Perfectionism

With no business degree — and not even a high school diploma backing his name — Branson started various businesses in different industries. He could’ve easily let his dyslexia hold him back from launching his magazine, but he didn’t. Instead, he used it to his advantage and adapted his leadership style to it. In an interview with Bloomberg, Branson said: “his dyslexia has helped him keep communication efficient, and showed him the importance of delegation.”

If you have the passion and drive for what you do, take the leap, and figure it out along the way. People believe they need the certifications, the perfect strategy, and every decision was written out in detail when all they really need is to take action. Forward momentum is better than no momentum. Life is about trial and error. Take action, make mistakes, learn from them, and try again until you get it right.

Experience and research taught me that a lot of people suffer because of lack of vision (Prov. 29:18) “Where there is no vision the people perish”. The “spirit of buying and selling” has held a lot of people down to the mood. Their eyes are blurred. They could no longer see opportunities again. No vision; therefore, no money.

Virtually everybody in the market today complains of setbacks and lack. Even when you try to correct them to see what the word offers and to say what the word says, they will tell you “Let us face the truth, I don’t have money! The rich are the ones who have the money…” Ignorance! May God re-write every ugly situation in your life now and bring you to the light of His words and prosperity in Jesus Name!

However, there are practical steps to successful businesses. But, you must acknowledge the fact that God is the Source of all wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. He owns the world and the whole things that are in it, not the devil (Psalms 24:1). He teaches man how to profit (Isa. 48:17). So, without Him, you can do nothing.

However, you need to understand entrepreneurship so as to manifest it. Understanding is the mother of manifestation. What you do not understand, you cannot activate.

Entrepreneurship needs ‘seed’ to germinate and grow optimally. Without adequate ‘seed’, the dream for entrepreneurship becomes a mirage.

The ‘seed’ is a thought, an idea, a concept, a vision, or an impulse. It could also be a pressing problem or challenge to be handled. The ‘seed’ is the ignition point of entrepreneurship. It prompts wealth creation.

On his own, Bishop David Abioye (2009:24) in his book, “Releasing The Creative Power Of The Mind” noted the following:

Men of ideas rule the world. Every great enterprise we see today started as an idea. This is why thinkers occupy higher positions in society. They are men of the initiative. They initiate profitable ideas and communicate them to those who produce the desired end results by putting them to work. The world is not ruled by men of strength, but by men of sense.

Believe me, there is no solution anywhere, except in God. God releases this solution practically when you locate vision.

However, purpose discovery is not enough, you need to plan and pursue God`s purpose for your life. There is no free gift in life; every reward you get has a prize you pay for it. No risk, no reward.

Those who want something for nothing will always end up getting nothing in all things. You neither gamble for success nor succeed by gambling.

You take practical steps suitable and relevant for your success and the glory goes to God.

Money making, in reality, is a functional exchange of virtues and values. If you do not have something to exchange for money, you end up a failure.

To make money in life, you must sell something; either you sell a product (tangible) or a service. The key to becoming a National or Global personality is becoming a National or Global problem solver.

Those who solve problems make the money, it is either you are a problem solver or you are a problem creator. Until you solve problems, you are not permitted to step upwards in life. This is because when you are not part of those solving problems and making news, you must be among the people making noise or talking about both newsmakers and noisemakers.

There is no middle point to these. Problem solvers are newsmakers. They hit global headlines of newspapers, radio stations, or TV programs unsolicited for, even while they are busy enjoying themselves, doing what they like.

Problem solvers look out for those problems which others hate to solve and solve them. I read with joy a story of two travelers who went to India those days, one saw a problem: the people were walking bare-footed, while the other saw an opportunity: to go back to his nation, produce foot wears, export them to that nation (India), sell to them and become a money maker.

The one that saw a problem felt that the nation was engrossed with poverty and left the country for another; while the other that saw an opportunity executed his plan and became a multi-millionaire in a strange land. He made news by solving their problem. That is exactly how to make it in life.

Maybe, you have been crying to the Lord for a solution to that predicament of yours. I bring you good news: God does not send manna from heaven anymore, but he sends ideas. Let no one confuse you.

When God says in Malachi 3:10-11, “Bring the tithe into the storehouse that there may be meat  in my house and prove me now herewith if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour you out my blessings that there will not be room enough to contain it and I will rebuke the devourer for your sake….’’ He was actually talking about the ruination of ideas.

When your spirit is connected to the Higher Spirit (God), your spirit activates your entire body with the right steps to take, through your mind/brain (being the seat of wisdom). Thereby making you manifest and connect to divine ideas that will prosper you on earth.

As you become conscious of this operation, via your soul (will, emotion, and mind), you see yourself taking practical steps towards that idea. In the end, by divine direction, you achieve results that baffle you.

Your crying of “LORD, what next!” be it in your barrenness, marital delay, academic setback, family life frustrations, ministry failures, poverty, and other related problems have just one solution: GO FOR THE WORD!

A divine idea with living proves emanates from God. Ideas are seeds that are sown for great rewards. Ideas are likened to a mustard seed. Just like the Biblical mustard seed, that grows into giant trees, you can`t determine the extent of growth and consequent result and reward that an idea will generate.

Ideas breed money; ideas are all you need to solve your problems. They are heavenly seeds to man and must produce in the order of their Source. That is why when the devil gives you a seemingly idea, he sees to its destruction and termination. At the end, he takes away your soul in exchange for the shadow he gave you.

In the same vein, when your ambitious spirit gives you an idea you end up operating and achieving results with natural limits without Heavenly backup, protection, and provision.

But, when it is God that gave ideas to you (Divine ideas) He provides, protects, and prepares you and the ideas.

Divine ideas live longer than the receiver (the visionary, who receives the idea). Ideas don’t die easily, except if they are not from God. Any idea you get and you’re too selfish with it gets aborted on the way. Yes, it’s good to protect your idea from negative thinkers and vision killers; but, in the course of running your vision you need destiny-helpers as you go. Never go alone! This makes the idea to live and last longer.
